"I will return to the Chieftain, because of my fondness for informal outdoor weekends and a
quiet, no hassle atmosphere. It reminds me of old Dartmouth with its loyal family atmosphere,
and my fond memories of a Mt. Moosilauke lodge weekend with its rustic beauty. Thank you, I
enjoyed the Chieftain."

Area Activities :: Trails
The Upper Valley is very rich in walking trails and the Chieftain Inn is conveniently located to
many. If you have children, and you want them to become exited about nature and taking walks,
I would recommend some of the Valley Quest hikes. There are over 200 Quests that have been
created in and around the Upper Valley Region of Vermont and New Hampshire. The Quests lead to
our communities treasures: old school houses, waterfalls, covered bridges, hilltop overlooks,
forests and wetlands. Follow the clues to the treasure box. Inside the treasure box, you will
discover more information about the site, a rubber stamp, stamp pad, a sign-in field journal and
a pencil. Sign your name in the book, adding a few notes or a sketch from your walk, and collect
an impression of the stamp as a memento of your journey. Then, carefully re-hide the box exactly
where you found it.
