"I will return to the Chieftain, because of my fondness for informal outdoor weekends and a
quiet, no hassle atmosphere. It reminds me of old Dartmouth with its loyal family atmosphere,
and my fond memories of a Mt. Moosilauke lodge weekend with its rustic beauty. Thank you, I
enjoyed the Chieftain."

Nature Enthusiast :: Bird Watching
Many of our guests have remarked on the beauty and diversity of the birds that they see at the
Chieftain Inn. This is due in part to our 10 acres, convenient location to the Connecticut river,
and conservation land. Whether you are a birder or simply looking for something tranquil and
different to do during your visit, you will be amazed. There have been 366 types of species seen
noted in New Hampshire. Some species that have been spotted here at the Chieftain Inn are Blue
Winged Warbler, Hummingbirds, Orchard Oriole, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Red-eyed Vireos. Make bird
watching an even more interesting by trying our birding scavenger hunt.
